The richness of León’s archaeological heritage is obvious while strolling around the city. In the Cascalerías street the remains of an Archaeological Crypt were found in the external part of the southwestern angle of the enclosure delimited by the wall of the Cubes.
The preservation works will make it possible to know more about the city’s evolution. The Archaeological Crypt of Puerta Obispo is being transformed into a museum, which will enable visitors to admire too a part of the "porta principalis sinistra", the eastern access to the encampment of the Legio VII gemina. Besides, the Archaeological Hall of Santa Marina will give people the possibility to contemplate the remains of the former encampments of the legions VI victrix and VII gemina, the primitive church of Santa Marina or the Tardoroman walls.
